Mood Baord Living Room

Everyone has something in life that they love to do. For some its sport, others it’s fashion. There are those who love gaming and those who love knitting. Me? Well I love renovating houses.

This is our second house renovation in five years. Our last renovation was a two bed end terrace which took about seven months to completely overhaul. This project is much bigger and we expected it to take a lot longer. We are now three years in and finally on the home stretch with regards to the house itself – not counting the outbuildings or garden.

When the new extension is finished it will house a brand new kitchen, dining room, snug, mud area and bathroom, and will basically be where we spend the majority of our time.

We had mulled over the idea of knocking down the wall between the living room at the front of the house and the room behind it (which will be the new kitchen) to open the space up completely from the front of the house to the back, but eventually decided against this as we like the idea of ‘good room’. Does anyone else have one of these?

The idea is to have one room at the front of the house where we can ‘entertain’ guests – in other words, a room where visitors aren’t going to get jumped all over by two crazy pups who spill their tea and nab their biscuits.

Alan and I have very different ideas on how this room should be, so we are trying to meet somewhere in the middle. There are currently four ideas up in the air for this room. Alan pictures the room with an oak mantle, grey furniture, a traditional standard lamp and heavy tartan curtains, whereas I am leaning more towards a cast iron tiled inset with wood surround, dark wood furniture, grey painted floorboards, and a heavy floral curtain. Then we also have the idea of a more modern look with a navy and yellow colour scheme or keeping with a coastal theme (we are on the coast after all) and keeping it blue and cream hues with sisal and light wood/white furniture.

We aren’t going to finalise this room until after the extension is complete, so this mood board is a work in progress and will likely change before we start any work on it.

I hope you enjoy!
